ADAS Calibration

ADVANCED DRIVER-ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS (ADAS) CALIBRATION

Phoenix Collision provides both windshield replacement and calibration services to keep you and your family safe and secure. Our calibration technicians are trained and certified on all makes and models.

Vehicles are currently making the switch from autonomous driving to Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) which ensure increased vehicle safety and better driving. ADAS systems can alert drivers to potential problems on the roads and can even take control of the vehicle when necessary – applying the emergency brakes for example.

Most new vehicles are equipment with ADAS technologies like:

Adaptive cruise control (ACC)

Driver drowsiness detection

Adaptive head lights

Forward Collision Alert (FCA)

Adaptive light control

Lane Keep Assist (LKA)

Automatic braking system (ABS)

Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)

Automatic parking

Pedestrian Detection (PD)

Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM)

Proximity monitors

Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)

Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR)

Frequently Asked Questions
Advanced driver-assistance systems are electronic systems that assist drivers in driving and parking functions. Through a safe human-machine interface, ADAS increase car and road safety. ADAS assists the driver by vibration, sound alert and providing images or warnings and in some cases (lane retention assist) will guide you gently back into your lane or in the case of the collision mitigation breaking system (CMBS) will actually apply the brakes for you.
Windscreen calibration is the process of adjusting the parameters of a camera lens to capture a complete image of the vehicle and road, guaranteeing that in-car ADAS systems receive accurate and reliable information. In other words it’s the process of returning a vehicle’s ADAS to default specifications, to function properly despite having been moved during installation.
ADAS calibration involves aligning these sensing devices such as millimeter-wave radars, cameras and laser radars in your car so that they function properly, which makes driving- safer.
If you have an ADAS system fitted, you may need to have it recalibrated from time to time – if there is a chance that your camera’s view has been slightly altered, for example. Circumstances that will require a recalibration include:

After a windscreen replacement

If the dashboard shows a fault code

If the camera has been disconnected

Change of suspension

Change of wheel alignment

A misaligned camera could jeopardise the functionality of the system and lead to dangerous driving or accidents, so it is crucial that the cameras are aligned perfectly, which is what windscreen calibration ensures.
Depending on the type of calibration & the specific vehicle, calibration can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 3+ hours.
Technologies that provide driver support, such as adaptive cruise control, or attempt to prevent collisions, such as automatic emergency braking, are included among the many ADAS types.
